Mind Blowing ideas to save money for Travel

Have you also already started dreaming of all the places you could travel to this year? And finally, get the adrenaline rush in veins that you get after trekking, skiing, surfing, meeting strangers, eating new food, etc. what and whatnot. With airline services and Hotels re-opening worldwide, one thing that everybody’s excited to resume is undoubtedly Travelling the heaven for travel freaksters. It is arguably the most awaited activity of 2020 and everyone is ready to travel their ways in 2021.

Travelling brings the kind of happiness like nothing else. Just imagine yourself sitting in nature’s lap, looking upon those quiet and serene mountains, and rejuvenating every organ of your ailing body after this heck-long pandemic. Such soothing experiences make everything worth it. I am sure most of you are already saving for your upcoming trips & travel plans with your friends and family. But with traveling comes a long list of expenses which sometimes, (or should I say ALWAYS) tend to be the worst part of it.

But as always, I am present here with some of the fastest and simplest ways to save money for travel

Table of Contents

  • Prepare a travel budget
  • Don’t waste your money on the next Starbucks
  • Think and Buy/Understand your needs and wants
  • Cook your own food tiso save money for travel
  • Drop that cigarettes!
  • Save money for travel on your books
  • Skip your expensive Spa’s to save money for travel
  • Work on your Side Hustle
  • Frame your friend-circle wisely
  • BONUS TIP
    • BOOK YOUR ACCOMODATION IN ADVANCE to save money

Prepare a travel budget

Before you start randomly saving a vague amount for your trips, be a bit more responsible and make a budget. Prepare a proper list of general expenses like flights or trains, hotels, food, activities, etc, and find an estimate of what you’re expecting to spend on your exciting vacation. Now find out the amount you wish to save in the due course of time to have a clear idea of your goal and guess what! Start Saving…

And never let the occasions turn bare-handed when you get to sneak money from your other budgets. Save money on groceries, your essentials, “non-essentials”, and basically everything wheresoever money is involved.

Don’t waste your money on the next Starbucks

I know the first thing you need after waking up from that dreamy inadequate sleep to fuel your body is your favorite Starbucks. But what if I tell you that Now Is the Time to ditch Starbucks? Yes, ditch Starbucks and make OTI (onetime investment) on a coffee-making machine. You don’t have to quit your caffeine addiction as long as you’re making it all by yourself. You can save a major chunk of your income every single month to speed up your prep for the next vacayy-yay..

Think and Buy/Understand your needs and wants

We as ‘millennials’ always look forward to hopping onto new trends to avoid that FOMO. Be it some gorgeous chikankari suit or a pair of sexy leather pants, we never think twice before buying items that won’t even be in trend the next season. This impulsive buying nature results in making a hole in our pocket. And you might wonder WHERE DOES ALL THE MONEY GO? From now on, think THRICE before you buy a trendy piece and save that money for travel.

One tip I would give you to cut down your non-essential expenses is, to start following the 30-day rule. What you have to do in it is start making a list of all your unnecessary expenses. Write down the description and price of all such expenses and pin it in a place visible to your eyes and think about it for 30 days. After 30 days, if you still wish to buy it, you can go ahead. This technique can save you from all your impulsive buys and help you save money for your next travel.

Cook your own food tiso save money for travel

Most of the time we end up ordering all our three meals from online food delivery apps such as Zomato and Swiggy. We depend on such apps to eat our tasty everyday meals. Mostly, for students and working bachelors it has become a daily part of their routine. Rather than reaching your phones and burning money by ordering food through Uber Eats why not cook your food? This simple daily chore will help you become healthier and places you one step ahead of saving enough money for your next adventurous travel in Bir.

Drop that cigarettes!

When starting, bad habits often make us experience the universe but they result in severe addiction soon. and if you have been smoking, you know it’s hells expensive. An average individual in India burns at least INR 150 daily on cigarettes, making it a round-off figure of 4500 INR per month. Cigarettes are tagged as silent killers and if it is still not clear to you from its packet, let me quote it again, “Smoking is injurious to health.” Why would you want to spend your hard-earned money on something useless when you can save money for your travel and vacays. Imagine the money you can save if you start now.

Save money for travel on your books

If you are someone who is tagged as a ‘bookworm‘ and would love to spend Saturday nights in your cozy balcony finishing a new thriller rather than going out to the ‘Partyy‘. This one is for you. I know you love your books more than anything in the world and want to read all of them but that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to own all of them. Sometimes the paperback editions are enough to cost an arm and a leg. So don’t always go after buying a new book every time, instead, you can borrow it from your bookish friends or walk out to a library, find your book, read it and return it.

Skip your expensive Spa’s to save money for travel

Luxury brings comfort and soothes the nerves of anyone who can afford it, but it doesn’t surprise us to burn a big hole in our pocket. When you are thinking of traveling and the expenses that come along with it, you would not want to spend a fortune on these luxurious spas. But, if you’re doing it STOP NOW. Avoid the expensive visits and therapies as these expenses can definitely become hurdles in your long-term saving journey. Instead, give your body the love, time, and care it needs all by yourself and make that money worth saving up for your vacays.

Work on your Side Hustle

Today when inflation has reached an all-time high, a single stream of income is not sufficient. This is when you need to start thinking about new side hustles to generate another source of income. Start learning new skills, honing your existing skills, and looking for the correct opportunities and platforms that can complement those skills. You can work as a freelancer on sites such as Fiverr and Upwork, learn new languages, do summer internships, work at Dominos, and so on. Earn from small and save for the big.

Frame your friend-circle wisely

If you want to save desperately but your cool friends force you to go to that funky club, leave those friends. I know it may sound a little harsh but the truth be told. Don’t surround yourself with people who don’t support and encourage your good habit for a cause, They are not helping you in your saving phase at all, so make sure to choose your friends wisely who talk about savings and encourage you to save money for travel.

BONUS TIP

BOOK YOUR ACCOMODATION IN ADVANCE to save money

Since India began its unlocking phase after a complete lockdown, folks have gone insane to go out and travel the world. The crazy Manali pics of 2021 have gone viral leaving all of us in shock and wondering, How is this even possible? Due to such a crowd, hotel prices shot up in no time. One lesson from this incidence? Book your accommodation in advance.

These were all the ways that can help you save money for travel. Just stick to these ideas or hacks and I’m sure you can save up to your budget in desired time. Just be true to yourself.
