The first of its kind music festival organized by the ID&T, a Netherlands based promoter that focused on multiple genres. Mysteryland electronic dance music festival is the oldest one to originate in the Netherlands and is one of the most demanded one amongst the music lovers these days amongst all the other top EDM festivals in the world.
The 1993 edition of the festival was held at Midland Circuit, Lelystad from July 9th to July 11th and since then became the escape weekend from day to day normal life and kept on attracting huge crowd every successive year.
The third edition of Mystery land which was supposed to be held in 1995 got canceled due to some issues but the EDM festival made a strong comeback in 1996 but the format changed to one day.
In 2003 the venue changed to Floriade, Haarlemmermeer but the first ever edition to be held outside the Netherlands was in 2011 when Mysteryland happened in Chile and it was in the year 2015 that it changed from the one day format to a three-day format, generally organized on the last weekend of the august month.

In May 2014 the American Version of this EDM festival was held at the Bethel Woods, an extremely huge green space situated to the south of New York City.
The festival equivalent to the Dutch festival has managed to attract a huge crowd owing to the amazing lineup that includes best edm artists from around the globe. Huge names like Diplo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Carl Craig, Netsky, Chase & Status and several others have been seen in the previous editions of this festival.
Having under their name three huge successful editions the 2017 edition got canceled and no explanations for the same was given. The return of Mysterland USA in 2018 was nothing less than a surprise for EDM lovers and we hope it’s here to stay for long now.

Mysteryland Genres That Makes Everyone Go Crazy
- Techno – Having originated in Detroit, Michigan in the US during the 1980s this genre of music has been seen to serve as the core foundation on which several other sub-genres were built. The pioneers of this genre were Kraftwerk, Yellow Magic Orchestra and Giorgio Moroder and resulted to be the blend of black styles with electronic music.
- House– Having characteristics similar to disco, the house was created in Chicago in the early 1980s by club DJs and music producers.
- Trance –The super energetic electronic genre found its seeds in the British new age music and German techno and hardcore scenes and emerged into existence. The main characteristic of trance in tempo lying in between 110-150 bpm.
- Hardstyle – The blend that was influenced by techno and hardcore and later on itself became an influence on big room house.
- Dance – The genre of music that is specifically composed in such a way that it accompanies dancing and is one of the most played genres in music festivals.
- Urban– Also known by the name of urban pop or urban contemporary is mainly a radio format genre and it includes many elements of R&B.
- Hardcore– The sub-genre of the EDM emerged in the Netherlands in the 1990s and it was a faster tempo that differentiated this sub-genre from other sub-genres.
- Hip hop– Also goes by the name of rap music, this music genre originated in the US during the 1970s. It consists of a rhyming speech that is coupled with a different way of chanting it termed as rapping.
- Dancehall– Originated in the 1970s, the Jamaican genre of music was a sparse version in the initial years but the dominant increase of instruments made the rhythms faster.
- Big room house – It is a sub-genre of parent genre electro house and it gained popularity through music festivals itself.
- Electro – Having been influenced by drum machines and funk, it includes two subgenres namely electro-core and skweee.
What Was So Special About MYSTERYLAND 2018
Having originated in 1993, Mysteryland is still one of the most favorite music festivals for every music lover and attracted a huge number of DJs in its most recent edition.
The 2018 edition of Mysterland was organized in Haarlemmermeer, the Netherlands from August 24th to August 26th, 2018. It consisted of 17 stages including one main stage and the light work is nothing less than art and science at its best.
The headliners included Alesso, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwell, Axwell ^ Ingrosso, W&W, Fatboy Slim, Aly & Fila, Brennan Heart, Blasterjaxx, Ferry Corsten, Sven Vath and Frequencerz. Camping and campground pre-party was also an integral part of Mysteryland 2018.
