Spider-Man

Released- 2002
Run Time- 2h 1m
IMDb – 7.3/10
Director – Sam Raimi
Lead Actor – Tobey Maguire
One of the most successful adaptations of ‘comic book to big screen’ formulated Spiderman movies – Spider-Man is a superhero film adaptation of Stan Lee’s most popular Marvel comic. It tells the origin story of Peter Parker, or Spider-Man, who after getting bit by a radioactive spider has gained superpowers of climbing walls and shooting webs like a spider.
After losing his uncle who got killed, Peter decides to fight the bad guys. A series of unplanned and physical battles in the New York City follow. The impulsive and highly debated portrayal of Spider-Man by Maguire is a must to discuss after watching this Spiderman movie, keeping aside the fact that he actually is the best.
Spider-Man 2

Released- 2004
Run Time- 2h 15m
IMDb – 7.3/10
Director – Sam Raimi
Lead Actor – Tobey Maguire
The director Sam Raimi effortlessly managed an improvement on Spider-Man to make this one of the best Spider-Man movies. Despite facing the bad guys in New York, Spider-Man is still struggling with his college life, bank account and losing his lady love Mary Jane.
Maguire throws even more class in this Spider-man movie than the first one. There’s a supervillain called Dr. Octopus, a cyborg with four deadly metal tentacles who blames Spider-Man for his accidental transformation and wants to seek revenge. For even more trauma, there’s Harry Osborne blaming Spider-Man for his father Norman, the Green Goblin’s death. Greater responsibilities have never felt this dangerous.

Spider-Man 3

Released- 2007
Run Time- 2h 36m
IMDb – 6.2/10
Director – Sam Raimi
Lead Actor – Tobey Maguire
Instead of choosing the bang way, Spider-Man 3 goes for a storyline ending with the introduction of three new final but lasting villains – Harry as the New Goblin, his uncle’s killer Marko as the Sandman and a dark symbiote Venom. From all Spiderman movies, this one brings out the most content for a two-hour flick introducing another love interest, even more struggles in Peter’s personal life.
The final battle comes down to a realization struck Harry and Spider-Man against Venom and the Sandman. Peter is soon forced to decide whether he should let his dark side to dominate his personality or not.
The Amazing Spider-Man

Released- 2012
Run Time- 2h 33m
IMDb – 6.9/10
Director – Marc Webb
Lead Actor – Andrew Garfield
The previous three films were huge but not stable for the life of the spidey superhero. A disappointed Sam Raimi and public criticism of Spider-Man 3 led to sudden changes, making Marc Webb the new director, Andrew Garfield the new face of Spider-Man and an added “amazing” prefix in the Spiderman movies list.
The geeky teenager Peter is re-imagined as an awkward loner; the first love, Mary Jane is sacrificed for the new chick Gwen Stacy and subtly, the originality is replaced with the previous ideas somehow. A decent score and improved casting are the added things that are actually amazing.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Released- 2014
Run Time- 2h 22m
IMDb – 6.6/10
Director – Marc Webb
Lead Actor – Andrew Garfield
In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man is basically the same goofy nerd from all Spiderman movies, but is met with another challenge when a new and a far more powerful enemy, Electro becomes a danger for the New York City.
Peter also struggles to build a better and more qualified suit for himself as an improved Spider-Man to meet the greater powers of his enemies. The reaching chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone – as the actors were dating back then – is a biggie selling point here.
Spider-Man: Homecoming

Run Time- Released- 2017
2h 13m
IMDb – 7.4/10
Director – Jon Watts
Lead Actor – Tom Holland
In another episode of a disappointing Spiderman movie and how it was reconstructed to milk the same narrative, even more, we got Sony partnering with Marvel after The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and the fresh introduction of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man Homecoming.
Homecoming narrates Peter Parker’s life in the MCU as another friendly superpower holding teenager wanting to pave his path as an Avenger. Tony Stark skeptically admires the abilities of the kid but soon after, Peter concretes his space as he rebelliously goes on to defeat a mysterious villain called The Vulture.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Released- 2018
Run Time- 1h 56m
IMDb – 8.4/10
Director – Peter Ramsey, Bob Persichetti, Rodney Rothman
Lead Actor – Shameik Moore, Jake Johnson (voice-over)
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse may be a new entry among the Spiderman movies list, but this animated film has outsold all the Spider-Man live-action movies till date. Miles Morales, a Brooklyn teen living in the world of where “Spider-Men” is possible, gains the powers of Peter Parker and becomes the new Spider-Man.
Even if not watched with Spiderman movies in order, Into the Spider-Verse has a hearty touch that makes its animation even more lovable. To get some learning, Miles goes to Peter Parker for some senior advice and become the new savior of the city.
